Tales from Exile – Peking Duck

You want 12 duck lady? You not so fat? How you eat 12?

You want frozen? Bad for ducks, not so good cold.

You want to fly with them? Lady these ducks are dead. Not flying again, eating.

No! You take duck to Africa? No duck in Africa?

Special dinner party on island?

You crazy lady.

Africa does that.

(A true story)

That's an amusing tale. And quite moving with the Africa reference.

oddly, I have a very old friend and his mother is living now in retirement on an island off the West Africa coast. People go there for a weird kind of tourism since it was a main staging area for the slave trade. This is only odd for the simple reason I am still impressed with finding this friend after losing contact with him in 1954.

This made me smile. The dialogue is priceless - 'Lady these ducks are dead. Not flying again, eating.'
