Emperors and Kings

Emperors and Kings

We remember His Exultedness Ozymandias  standing in the desert, surveying His Empire

we wrote essays about him at school

Emperors and Thieves

We remember the sight of another Exulted One, in bronze, being towed earthwards

(and later the trap-door plunge after much discussion)

Emperors and Tyrants

We’ve studied the works and plans of the Genius of Economics: His Marxness

and watched with sadness or satisfaction as the communist experiments failed under

the weight of human nature

Emperors and Stars

In marble or bronze, paint or celluloid we like to keep our Emperors on pedestals,

high up on a wall:

Above, untouchable, beyond the grip of gravity or sin

An interesting take on the pic.

Scary isn't it, Isabel, the way we exult the exulted ad keep them on high, so they might then look down on us. Powerful refections here.

We do like to exalt our celebrities these days, don't we? And then we wonder why they fall...

I don't know why, but I have lost you ... and I have missed you. I am doing a lot of "blog" changes (artistically) at the moment, have a new theme and must learn what it is that I am doing. Happy New Year Isabel. I hope that this finds you well and feeling good.

It is well-known that in Australia we 'cut down the tall poppies'. No-one stays exalted for long. I wonder whether that's good or bad.

yes...and what we put on pedestals certainly falls...but coat them in bronze and they have a hard time doing much against us...smiles..

Isabel~
You are clearly an educator at heart, and I enjoyed the intellectual stimulation in this one. Well done.

It's what we do... build 'em up, tear 'em down...and wait for the next batch of celebs to surface..very astute piece of work here!

Ozymandias -- yes! Wondered when someone would get around to him.

Ozymandias was a role Yul Brennyr should have planned since he was King of Siam and King Of Egypt, he should have been King of Kings also

days of cohan
