I Dreamt of Freedom

Wheat Field with Rising Sun, Vincent van Gogh, 1889

I dreamt of freedom

I dreamt of freedom and you gave me flowers:

all the world’s roses you laid at my feet;

I dreamt of freedom and you gave me jewels:

rubies and sapphires and ropes of pearls;

I dreamt of freedom and you gave me palaces:

marble fountains, courtyards and walls;

I dreamt of freedom and you gave me words:

praises and songs and promises;

I dreamt of freedom and searched myself:

long vistas, the rising sun, the burden of death

and life.

Be careful what you dream for - freedom is not all it seems

I'm afraid that none of the superlatives I can think of quite do this one justice.
I may have to go away and try to create one. For now I am not able to tell you how much I like it - Oh, and the van Gogh aint half bad either. I didn't know it, so it's a double thank you!

A stunning piece of writing.

Rightly or wrongly, the new Princess of Monaco came to mind quickly followed by Princess Grace.

You wrote of the freedom I also found within in my 'Here be Dragons' post...

Truly making the most of a prompt...freedom and its many colors...to have choices seems the greatest freedom to me. Very thought-provoking.

there is no freedom in things and possessions. freedom come from within and that is exactly what we read within your words. Simple and elegant. :-)
