Petit dejeuner avec Henri

We sit over the sunshine harbour, balcony with view,
your table set with a scrap of linen,
blue plates and green glass

In the square below the farmers
offering fresh tomatoes and herbs,
the cheese stall piled and the bakery
overflowing queues and chatter,

shopping baskets knocking against knees

Petit dejeuner avec Henri

Baguette and brioche, pain de compagne to soak up the summer on a plate
saucisson and champignons, and a pale glass of rose
a bowl of cafe  at your elbow

Your pipe jetting sparks
and the crisp paper releasing its inky essence

The shutters half open, the sea against the sky,
mimosa and figs and a cat with geraniums

Wow, wish I was there! This is actually evocative of my "happy place" that I go when too stress. Of course without Henri! Plus you made my belly rumble!

Images painted well, drawing us in, could hear the click of the camera, the whir of the lens.

Are we in the south of France? Say la Cote d'Azur, le Cap d'Antibes? I can see the plein-air market, the bowl of coffee (yum! with hot milk!). The food paints such a vivid picture! And the cat with the geraniums-- and best of all: le soleil! Merci, Isabel! xxox

My sort of breakfast! Good choice of words to a vivid description. But what was Henri doing having breakfast with you? :)

I would love to be at that breakfast; love the phrase, 'summer on a plate.'

Formidable, bien ecrit. Mais quand meme, c'est "petit," pas "petite."
There's always a nit-picker. :-)

Merci M.Berowne et pardonnez moi: je l'ai corrige (accent aigu).
