"Swearing great hope, the exiled risk across the globe,
and dream of riches and revenge." -- Spes Fallax -- Lucius Annaeus Seneca or pseudo-Seneca, trans Doyle --
You are an amazing poet..."driven shuttlecock", oh my the entire poem, "chambered heart ruptured, but all of it, you are a genius. I thrill to read you.
yikes, am i the only one who tries to remove birds (and animals) from the road before they are pummeled into nothingness? i see this as human v. nature and it's very powerful, well done.
Poor creature. I like the 'shuttlecock with purpose' followed by 'the next spent litter'. Two powerfully contrasting images. Even i hate seeing dead birds on the street, especially pigeons. It's a macabre sight.

"Shuttlecock" is inspired, Isabel.
Very touching..a death not noted ...except as waste..the last line is so powerful..
Poor creature. Only the strongest survive.

A beautiful piece.
I understand it as the death of a flying dream.

This is my kind of poetry - I love your style!
Great subject for a poem, and I certainly felt the emotion and futility... killer last line.
Wonderful work.
A very thought-provoking piece.
This has such an impact, Isabel. Well done. Poor feathered creature.

Inspiring. Just because an animals life is simpler and they are less intelligent it does not mean theirs is worth less than yours.
I cry for all the little creatures who had a purpose.
Terrific piece, Isabel.
Touching and beautifully written.
Moving, painful, real!
Tight, terse and true, Isabel. A bit of brilliance here.
